Celebrating Anniversaries

I love anniversaries, I would probably go out on a limb and say I love anniversaries slightly more than birthdays GASP! The reason I love anniversaries so much be it weddings or milestone celebrations such as being cancer free for a number of years is because it's one additional year celebrated! It's another year to reminisce and thank God for his blessings as well as family and friends too for all their support and love throughout the year! Since this year has been a very up and down year for my in laws, I just wanted to send them a handmade card telling them to truly party and celebrate another blissful year of marriage!!! I had tons of fun making this card for them and hope they like half as much as my hubby did 🙂

I love getting monthly happy mail from Simon Says Stamp in the form of their monthly card kits! Thankfully this fun card kit came in the mail just in the nick of time. My stash of wedding/anniversary stamp sets is unbelievably small so when it came to making a cute couples anniversary card I thought I would have to hit up the box box scrapbooking stores whom aisles can be limiting. Once I opened up the box and examined the stamp set for April 2015, I immediately knew I would use the “Let's celebrate…” sentiment as a celebration of love! Now if you look closely at my card and this month's stamp set you will see the stamp ended with the word you and a exclamation point as opposed to your. To stretch the stamp set and make it better fit my needs I inked my stamp in Versamark ink and before stamping on the paper I took a slightly damp paper towel and wiped off part of the U and all of the exclamation point. Once that was complete I stamped the sentiment and wrote in the “r” using my Versamark marker to make you into your! I then heat embossed the card with gold embossing powder and heated until the powder fully melted!

For the remainder of the card I dry embossed the beautiful Simon Says Mint cardstock with the a small dots embossing folder. The circle was cut and embossed using one of the Spellbinders circle dies and placed behind the gold foiled diagonal striped kraft cardstock made by Bazzill. The gold heart was heat embossed as well after I punched it out with my small heart die by Stampin Up!!!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and checking it out! I recently just signed up for the InLinkz service and once I become better acquainted with it, I'll come back and update this post with all the supplies used to make my card today! Until then get inky friends!!!

If not NOW, when?

For years and years I’ve been wanting to start and maintain my own blog. For one reason or another I believed a “perfect” moment would magically come along and BAM my blog would be up and running just like that…HA. If the last few years of life have taught me anything (being a frequently moving family and all) it has taught me there is no such moment. Therefore I’m starting today by just putting my thoughts out in the blogosphere and going forward from there!

Recently I participated in a amazingly fun and much needed challenge to kickstart my creative juices called the: 30 Day Coloring Challenge (check it out here)!!! I absolutely loved this challenge and taking a few minutes to a hour or so of much needed “ME” time to color daily. Seriously this challenge couldn’t have come at a better time! Although I wasn’t able to make a card the majority of the challenge, I decided to save the pieces I was able to complete during the challenge and use them here! Starting tomorrow I plan on posting a completed card regularly (wish I could commit to daily but alas) from the 30 Day Color Challenge! Please join me as my creativity continues to unfold and develop and let’s get inky my friends😘
